The first post-Imperial Prime Minister of Russia. His Provisional Government failed to solve any of the impending problems that Russia was facing. After four months he resigned.

Background
Lived: 1861-1925.
Prince Lvov was born in Dresden as a descendant of the noble Rurik family. He studied law at the University of Moscow and worked as a civil servant.

Lvov joined the Constitutional Democrats and was elected in the First Duma of 1906. There he successfully lead the Union of Zemstvos.

Prime Minister
After the February Revolution he was asked to lead the new Provisional Government. He was not a member of any parliament at that time and stood above the fractions.

Prince Georgy Lvov is described as a moderate, prudent and very weak character. His Provisional Government worked in endless hours of discussion and debate but none of the acute problems of the day were really solved.

Prince Lvov’s decision to continue war against Germany to please the Allies, proved to be fatal and after 4 months he resigned. His cabinet Minister Alexander Kerensky followed.

Death
Lvov emigrated to France and died in Paris in 1925.
