1584-1598 Tsar of Russia.
“The Bellringer” was the last ruler in the line of the 700-year-old Rurik dynasty. He was feeble-minded, and his regent Boris Godunov drove Russia into a disastrous Time of Troubles.

Background
Lived: 1557-1598.
Since Ivan the Terrible had murdered his older son and heir Ivan, the throne went to his younger son Fyodor I. Aware that Fyodor was intellectually disabled, Ivan the Terrible made Boris Godunov, a boyar, his regent.
Reign
Feodor was quiet and gentle, always smiling and ringing church bells. He was in a constant state of prayer. He had no particular ambition to rule. He is also known as Fyodor “The Blessed”, as he was never against anything.
His only offspring, his daughter Feodosia, died at the age of two, leaving him without an heir.
Death
His death came quietly after a brief illness in 1598. After Fyodor’s death, Boris Godunov assumed the throne.
